The People for Change Coalition Inc.  a Maryland nonprofit organisation is hosting several April FREE workshops on “How to Start a Nonprofit” at 4 Maryland locations: Temple Hills, Hyattsville, Laurel and Bladensburg. The stated mission of the organization is: “Helping Nonprofits and Minority Businesses Grow”.  To attend one of these  workshops, you must click here to register.

Dumfries Slave Cemetery Clean-up this Saturday

There will be a Slave Cemetery Clean-up  on Saturday April 14, from  9:00 – 11:00am.  The cemetery is located  directly behind Dumfries Elementary School at 3990 Cameron Street Dumfries, Va. 22026

This cleanup will consist of raking leaves, removing dead limbs, picking up trash, and cutting back grass and brush so please dress appropriately for the weather and the work: long pants and long sleeves.

Please bring rakes, wheel barrows, shovels, hand tools, tarps and bug spray.

Written by noted author and journalist A. Peter Bailey, this production of Malcolm, Martin, Medgar is in commemoration of the 50th Anniversary of the passing of Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

Second VP Keith Smith informs that First African Methodist Episcopal Church of Manassas  (FAME)  will host a FREE, open to the public,  legal clinic on March 13, 2018,  6:00pm to 9:00pm. The clinic is sponsored by the Northern Virginia Black Attorneys Association and the Virginia State Bar Young Lawyers Conference. Town of Dumfries 2018 Black History Month Celebration

The Town of Dumfries 2018 Black History Month Celebration will be held at Little Union Baptist Church, 17150 Mine Road, Dumfries, VA. on Saturday February 24, 11:00am to 1:00pm.  The  theme of the celebration honors “African Americans in Times of War” like the legendary Tuskegee Airmen, who were highly decorated for their service in World War II. Councilwoman Washington will be the Master of Ceremony over this program.

Thanks to the generous support of UFCW Local 400, the VSC NAACP Youth and College Division is partnering with Area Four NAACP to host the annual New York City Bus Trip to the National NAACP Board of Directors Quarterly meeting.

This trip is an annual event many across Virginia enjoy and are very excited about attending.  The bus is scheduled to leave Richmond next Friday night, February 16th for the early morning arrival in NYC – for all of the trip details, see attached flyer.

Plans are in place to stop in Northern Virginia to pick up additional NAACP members and Youth for the trip.
